Thank you for your interest in Iowa State University’s master’s program in Education leading to recommendation for principal licensure, commonly known as PreLEAD. Iowa State University is currently renewing PreLEAD, an effort that will continue to strengthen our emphasis on preparing equity and learning centered leaders who are able to connect scholarship on educational leadership with the concrete experience of working and leading in schools.
We will thus NOT be starting a new cohort in Fall 2017. A new cohort WILL begin the program in Fall 2018.

PreLead, the principal licensure program at Iowa State University, is a cohort-based program that prepares transformative leaders who promote high quality schools that result in high levels of learning for every child. Graduates of PreLEAD are thus prepared to:
PreLEAD achieves these goals of leadership preparation through a research-based, tightly knit, five-semester, 30-credit program, which supports collaborative integration of theory and practice in all coursework and through authentic fi eld experiences. Guided by faculty who are immersed in local school contexts and committed to equitable school leadership, the program culminates in a student designed and executed School Improvement Project that will demonstrate mastery of state and national standards for professional excellence.
In fall 2017, tuition at ISU will be $485/credit hour, comparable to that of other Iowa universities. You also may be aligible for financial aid. Check with the ISU Financial Aid Office for requirements and eligibility.
