At Iowa State, you'll be involved with cutting-edge mathematics education research and classes that will develop and enhance your ability to teach mathematics at the elementary or the secondary levels. Option 1: If you have a bachelor's degree in mathematics or closely related field and want to teach math to students in grades seven through twelve, our Masters of Education with a specialization in Mathematics Licensure is just for you. In this program, you can become a licensed teacher in approximately 15 months through our accelerated program.
Option 2: Perhaps you are an elementary, middle school or secondary classroom teacher seeking to enhance your practice working with students in mathematics. Our Master of Education program will allow you to develop new strategies and approaches to support mathematics learning for all students.
Option 3: If you want to pursue a more research oriented masters, the Master of Science program will provide you with initial skills in research methodology and the opportunity to conduct an independent research project for your thesis.
Option 4: If you seek opportunities to work with current researchers in mathematics education and pursue research associated with issues of equity in mathematics, teacher noticing, and the use of curriculum materials to support teachers, among other topics, than our Doctor of Philosophy program with an emphasis in mathematics education is the right pick for you.
